Reverend Karl R. Marshall, Sr. is a born again believer who loves Jesus Christ and believes in serving
Him whole-heartedly. He is the son of the late Deloris Marshall, husband of Gwendolyn Marshall and the father
to Kiera, KJ, Kieaundra Marshall and Christina Mitchell. He answered the call to preach the Gospel in March
of 2002 and was licensed by Reverend George L. Smith, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in the Holland
Section of Suffolk, Virginia. In December 2009 he was blessed to be called to serve as Pastor of Liberty Baptist
Church in Waverly Virginia where he served for just over ten years. Currently God has blessed Pastor Marshall
to be the Senior Pastor of the church where he received Jesus as his personal Savior, the place he calls HOME,
New Hope Baptist Church in Pughsville. He is Retired as the Assistant Director of Public Works Operations
with the City of Suffolk. He believes what the Bible says in Matthew 19:26 “With God all things are
possible”. He is a graduate of the Virginia University of Lynchburg, M.C. Allen School of Religion with a
Certificate in Ministry, Roanoke Theological Seminary with a Bachelor of Divinity and graduated from The
Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University on May 13, 2017 with a Master of
Divinity Degree.
He has a burning passion for youth because just as Jesus told Peter in Luke 22:31 “Satan hath desired
to sift you as wheat”. Rev. Marshall believes he is still trying to do this with our youth today. There is also a
special place in his heart for the more mature in a congregation, those whom God has blessed to pave the way
for the younger generations, the same people who have been imparting wisdom and experience upon all of us
for many years. He does his best everyday to be like our Savior Jesus, who had the love of all people within
Him. God has blessed him to be a lover of all people, and most importantly a lover of Christ and His Gospel.
He believes with the possession of a God-given vision, the possibilities for His people are endless.
Finally Reverend Marshall always says “I have been called by God to do what Paul admonished
Timothy to do in 2 nd Timothy 4:2 which says “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season: reprove,
rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine””.
